This wasn’t caused by singular event, rather, the accumulated weight of overfishing, pollution, and warming seas.
Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation's short film, Jamaica's Coral Reefs Are In Crisis — What Can Be Done?, sits with that decline directly: what's been lost, what's being done, and what a reef recovering under pressure actually requires.
We're watching it inside Mango Season, where the reef takes its place beside the questions Tao Leigh Goffe raises in Dark Laboratory — of the Caribbean sea as a site long treated as testing ground, and of what it means to read ecological damage as history rather than accident.
